About the course

The Trinitarian Model of Health, developed by Michele Suhie PhD, integrates three evidence-based fields—positive psychology, lifestyle medicine, and religion/spirituality research—with a fourth over-arching domain drawn from the theology of communion, relational health science, and the two greatest commandments. Together, these form a coherent, deeply rooted vision of what it means for a human person to flourish in the image and likeness of God. The Trinitarian Health Model serves as a framework for orienting your health behaviors toward a greater purpose, through the lens of the Catholic faith.  You will learn how to reframe your health, reintegrating faith and reason to harness the best practices from science and medicine for health of mind, body, spirit, and community.

Meet your instructor:

Michele Suhie, PhD, NBC-HWC, DipACLM Michele is the Director of Health Education at MyCatholicDoctor Academy and a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach and Certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional.  She is an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University and coordinates the Sunday music ministry at her parish.  Michele developed The Trinitarian Model of Health after her experience with stage 1 breast cancer in 2023.  The model grew out of a recognition that physical, mental, spiritual, and social health are interconnected and can be connected to God by both faith and reason.  She uses the model to introduce others to a Person-domain-practice framework that allows others to see each person of the Holy Trinity as connected to a domain of health, while suggesting areas of evidence-based practice that support health in that domain.
